December 2011 Issue --> Internet Marketing Promotion Article How To Advertise Your Website For Less By: Harvey McEwan
Founding, creating and running your own website can be great fun, but it is, as you probably already know, a lot of hard work, especially if you are trying to set up an e-commerce site for your business. But while this endeavour can be hard, this doesn't mean it can't be done, and there are a lot of e-commerce sites out there that have become incredibly popular and lucrative. But how do you go about advertising your website and making it successful, especially when you don't have a lot of money to spare? Here are a few ideas.
One thing that many webmaster struggle to do is to find the proper audience or user base for their product, and this is vital if they are hoping to make an impact online. So one of the first things you must do is identify your target audience or customers - are they in a particular age group? Are they a particular gender, or do your products or services appeal to people of all genders? Do you have seasonal products or offers that you can advertise at certain times of year, such as Christmas, Halloween or the Summer? Once you've answered these questions, and you have a better idea of who you'd like your site to appeal to, you will have a better idea of what way to advertise your site and products.
When it comes to advertising and marketing online, there are many, many ways, products and companies that you can use or buy, but these can vary dramatically in cost and effectiveness. So if you can't afford to go to a marketing company, then look into the online marketing industry, and see what an SEO or search engine optimisation company can do for you, such as PPC - or a paid ad campaign, were your ads will appear at the top and sides of search engine results pages.
Another vital part of making users more aware of your brand is through social media, such as Facebook and Twitter - which are both free. Having a social media profile will make it easier for potential customers to find you, and it will also make it easier for you to communicate with your customers, which will then, in turn allow you to engage with them better. And engagement is what social media is all about, as you must not only speak to your customers through social media, but also take feedback from them, such as compliments and even complaints too - the way you respond to feedback will give customers a greater idea of what your company is like to deal with.
If you have the initiative, you will be able to find lots of ways that you can advertise your website effectively for or a low cost, or even for free, so do your research, identify and look at your target audience, look into online marketing techniques, such as SEO, CRO or even PPC if you want to pay a little bit extra - which of course will be worth it in order to publicise your business. Remember to look at social media, and see what sites would be best for your business, always engage, and remember to think about the most important person to your business: the customer.
