Pros And Cons Of Residual Affiliate Marketing For Successful Women

By: Sandy McQueen

There are a number of different business models on the internet these days that might appeal to women. At some point most of us feel compelled to at least take a look at what might be available. Maybe you just started a family and the thought of leaving your newborn tugs at your heart. It could be that you have been working in a regular job for a long time and want a change from the 9 to 5. Just maybe you want to be your own boss. For whatever reasons you have, I feel it is very important to find a business model that best fits your situation, budget and goals. A woman looking for a supplemental income could research for weeks and come up with far too many models to make an intelligent decision. Before wasting all of your time, let me explain one of those models and give the pros and cons of this online marketing opportunity.

Residual affiliate marketing is a term that describes making money by selling other people's products. Normally this venture consists of a merchant and an affiliate partner. The affiliate normally has a website setup and it is their job to direct leads to the merchant who then takes over and makes the sale. Once the sale is made the affiliate receives a commission that could range from 5% to 20% for a physical product to 50 to 75% for digital products. The residual comes in when the customer returns and makes additional purchases.

I know that all of this sounds terrific but one of the drawbacks to this trade is that it is not a get rich quick business model. Unfortunately many who have been mislead with unrealistic expectations simply quit when they realize that initially this opportunity requires a lot of time and hard work. When I ran upon affiliate marketing in my search, I thought this is going to be so easy. Soon I realized that this business is very difficult to get up and running, usually taking from 1 to 6 months to begin seeing any results. At the time, our finances were such that I had to operate with very little overhead. Fortunately I had another enterprise up and running that made enough to cover the expenses from my residual affiliate marketing opportunity. If that hadn't been in place we would have joined all the others that make this business have a low success rate.

Another disadvantage that anyone considering residual affiliate marketing or any home based business is that it will be necessary for you to be self motivated and very disciplined. There will be dark times that will leave you wondering if you are cutout to be self-employed. Always stay the course and remind yourself that this business model has the potential to be a very lucrative enterprise.

Now since we have gone over the disadvantages of residual affiliate marketing, it is time to take a look at some of the advantages. My pick of the several advantages to this business model are no products to deal with. I didn't want to order, ship or refund any products. I didn't want to have to deal with customers, inventories or employees. I guess I just listed more than one of the benefits of this enterprise but these are the reasons that I decided to become an affiliate partner. I also appreciate the excellent training that I have received since becoming a partner.

There are other advantages to this marketing plan. One would be that the internet is one of the most consumed among the various contents in the world. It is the least costly medium for the purposes of marketing and advertising and the return on investment is extremely high.

After reading this article there are still a lot of questions that you will need to have answered before becoming an affiliate partner. Keep in mind you will need to continue researching all opportunities to make sure your choice is a good fit for you. In the end create a list of pros and cons for each prospective company and see which one wins. That way you will have the greatest chance for your business to be a success.
