Ezine Affiliate Marketing - Everything Explained

By: Mark R. Hamilton

Ezine affiliate marketing is one of the most effective ways you can market your online business, or make money by selling other people's products online and getting affiliate commissions. Ezine affiliate marketing can also be called article marketing, and is a free technique of getting traffic. Unlike PPC (which stands for Pay-Per-Click) which is advertising on the search engines like Google, ezine affiliate marketing is a free method of getting some good solid traffic to your website.

What you have to understand is that PPC uses up quite a lot of money. Because it is quite literally 'Pay Per Click', article marketing is a popular method of getting traffic. It works as follows:

One has a website or blog set up with content and affiliate links loaded. In a PPC system, you wool target certain keywords to bring up your advert. You would get a lot of traffic this way. However, in ezine affiliate marketing, you 'latch on' to another website. Google and the others all have a system for determining how 'important' each site is, and if your site is only a few weeks or months old, it will probably have a fantastic rating of zero. Out of ten. However, if you can find a keyword which has very little competition (a phrase, or set of words), then you can write an article which includes that keyword a number of times and includes your link to your website or blog. If you then submit this article to a leading article directory, then you have a very high chance of scoring highly in the engines for those particular keywords.

It goes like this, a customer searches for a keyword on Google. You have written an article which targets this phrase and have submitted it to a website which Google likes. The customer finds your article on page one, reads it, clicks on your website link, and visits your website. All going well, you will have some affiliate link click-throughs, and some sales in there!

So there you go, basic ezine affiliate marketing 101.

However, as with everything, there are some drawbacks. The biggest is time. It takes a significant amount of time to write a decent article, and submit it. Unlike an ad which will generate lots of clicks, your article may only be seen 30 times, and only 2 of those people will click through. But, this is a small price to pay if you are able to write and submit a number of good articles. And of course, if you write five a day, then you'll be getting traffic in no time, and undoubtedly getting sales.

If you think this is worth it, then you're right. Now you just have to get past writer's block! And yes, it even happens to ezine affiliate marketing experts. Now your article is live, your ezine affiliate marketing can really take off. If your article is picked up by a publisher, your article is likely to be seen by hundreds if not thousands of people. This is the true power of ezine affiliate marketing, and it's very much free, it only requires a little time and effort.
