You may want to know what a keyword is so that you can know what you are dealing on. First of all what is a keyword? A keyword in a layman's way is a word or group of words which is used by search engines to locate websites or blogs, consisting of related articles to that specific "word or group of words''.
The only way search engines do this is by crawling through your website and other website to find websites consisting of related articles which includes (domain names, website title, website content, meta-tag, etc.)
Believe it or not keywords are of utmost importance, but you must know this fact that if you want to achieve success on the internet as a marketer, freelance article writer, etc you need targeted keywords for your online business. When you use keywords that are not targeted you end up not making money through the internet no matter the kind of business you do.
The keywords with which search engines such as Google or yahoo use to crawl through websites, to find out websites containing related articles are type by people, they are information which people are looking for, this is due to the internet is a place of information. The reason why I talk about targeted traffic is that it generates massive traffic to your website to your website or blog when applied well and you need to know what people want, because what you want may not be what MR B wants, as our faces differ so does our needs. You and I know that without traffic (visitor to your site) we cannot earn or make money on the internet. To be able to research for targetable or targeted keywords you need keyword research tools, there are different research tools available some are free while others are paid for.
So, at this point, you have at least a short list of market specific search terms. What you need to do now is investigate the market even further by:
-generating an even bigger list of related search terms
-discovering how many searches per month occur for these terms
-Find out how much advertisers are paying "per click" to run advertisements on these search terms.
These steps will enable you to do the following:
-Estimate market demand by looking at the number of searches
-Estimate how much traffic you'll be able to generate
-Get a real picture of market profitability by weighing advertising costs against how much profit you can expect per sale of your Affiliate products
Laying out the big picture is what keyword research will do for you?
Since keyword research is likely a new concept for you, we need to cover some history about its origins and how it works...
Origins of Keyword Research
It goes without saying that you've used a search engine before - but, did you know that the search engines, such as Google, keep an anonymous record of everything you search on?
Each time someone enters search keywords into a search engine; those searches are stored in a database. This data is collected primarily to help advertisers and other web site owners.
By having access to information about what people are searching for, you can improve your web site's search engine ranking, target your advertising and uncover online markets more easily.
You also can determine how popular a particular subject is by looking at how many people search for information on it.
These are the main reasons why marketers do keyword research.
It's a way of getting a broad view of market behavior, interest and demand. It also allows you to see how the market is being served by the competition.
In order to facilitate this type of research, the search engines that collect keyword data make that data publicly available, and there are a variety of ways to access it.
Some sites, like Google, provide an online tool to help you search their data, but you can also research keywords by using keywords research software.
Although there are several different search engines you can collect data from, they don't differ that much in the information they provide. People search for the same things, regardless of which search engine they're using.
